Wreck Racing

Wreck Racing is a competitive student organization that builds a functioning racecar by combining used cars and fabricating our own parts in house

Leadership

I am currently a member of the teams executive body, where I serve as safety and training officer for all shop tools. Aside from being involved in all administrative work behind the scenes, I am responsible for the training of 120 student engineers, and making sure everyone is properly using equipment during meetings. I also handle fire and chemical safety for the team.

My Work

In 2024, I worked as a member of suspension, where I helped design our custom suspension given optimized geometry points though Optimum Kinematics. This year, along with working on the administrative team,  I participate in maintaining the powertrain of the car, and the design and fabrication of composite body parts for streamlined aerodynamics and weight savings.

Team and Competition

Wreck Racing is a student run, competitive racing team that encourages creative problem solving in the face of tight budget constraints. We compete in the Grassroots Motorsports $2000 Challenge, where every car has to have a value of $2000 or less. To build our cars, we use data driven engineering decisions to strategically combine spare parts from different cars into a fully functioning racecar.

The Racecar

Our current car is a built from the shell of a 1987 Dodge Conquest with the powertrain of a 2005 Audi S4. It sports a 4.2 liter V8 engine and all wheel drive. The roll cage, engine mounting frame, and custom suspension architecture are all designed and built in house.
